Video calls are a great enhancement to Podio chat, making collaboration on Podio even easier. You may have noticed that we’ve replaced GoToMeeting Free with appear.in as our default video chat provider.
We’ve increased the amount of participants you can have on a video call from three and up to eight participants, depending on your network conditions. Meetings using appear.in are live and work with your device’s webcam and microphone, meaning that you can have realtime collaboration with your team. If you use a meetings app on Podio you can now also connect appear.in to your meetings, allowing participants to join via video call – great for remote teams or client calls. Best of all, it’s free to use and requires no software download.
Be sure to check out our Help Centre article for connecting your apps with appear.in. If you haven’t already got a Meetings app, you can create one in few clicks, or download one from the App Market – Event-type apps.
So what’s different about appear.in?
You’ll be pleased to hear that no login or install is required, making it easy to use and eliminating the need to remember yet another password – bonus.
You can also put your own stamp on virtual meetings when you claim a room, and give it a name. Add some color to the background of your meeting room by uploading an image, and you’ve created your very own personalized virtual meeting room.
Sharing your desktop with meeting participants is also possible, perfect for when you need to review a document or present a deck of slides to your team.
What about Podio video chat?
It is possible to initiate a video call in Podio chat by clicking on the video call icon. This will launch appear.in as the default video call provider. Your mic and webcam will then connect, and the video will begin immediately – easy!
I have a GoToMeeting account, can I still use it?
Yes. GoToMeeting is still available to connect to your Meetings apps, but it is no longer the default video chat provider. All video chats now connect with appear.in.
